The Panasonic FZ300 improves upon the FZ200 in numerous ways while building upon the same true-and-tried 24-600mm equivalent f/2.8 lens and 12.1-megapixel sensor. The redesigned body, improved better tilting display really help the FZ300 handle stream within the world and EVF. With good imaging performance for its class, this 4K-capable camera is up to the task of being a flexible multimedia camera and proves to be an excellent performer and an even better value.

The camera, which sells for about $500 within the US, AU$680 in Australia, and £440 within the united kingdom (where it's called the FZ330), also has such a full feature set that it's perfect if you would like something in between a point-and-shoot and a digital SLR-like experience. A DSLR lens with those specs would be huge and price thousands.

If you're willing to forgo some zoom, and you're already buying a camera during this price segment, don't declare another Panasonic model. The FZ1000 is selling for fewer than its $900 MSRP, and its 1-inch sensor puts it during a different class in terms of image quality. The biggest run into the FZ1000 is its build quality—for a camera as expensive because it is, its plastic body is a problem, and it lacks weather sealing, which may be a downer for a camera that's so well-suited for travel.

The FZ300 is better a better camera in some aspects—the Canon does not have 4K video quality, doesn't focus as quickly, and doesn't offer weather sealing—but overall, I still give a slight edge to the SX60. Its image quality is superb , with results that show a touch more detail than the FZ300, and while superzooms are always praised for telephoto reach, the SX60's 21mm wide-angle lens sets it apart from the crowd.

One other feature that we like is that the ability to use our smartphone as a foreign to regulate our FZ300.
